Here. We. Go.
*One Thing I Love: The Larry Sanders Show*
I’ve just recently discovered this classic on DVD and I highly recommend it. If you love Arrested Development, Scrubs, The Office, or 30 Rock, then you will love this (George Sr. from Arrested Development is one of the stars too). The show took place backstage at a late night talk show where real celebrities would come on and play versions of themselves. It’s a classic.
*One Thing I Hate: Being Excited for Jimmy Fallon*
He takes over for Conan next week and I …

Monday to Wednesday was crazy this week. Here’s me catching up.
*One Thing I Love: NYU Local*

NYU Local is an online newspaper that covers both NYU topics as well as national news.
Not to set off a flame war or anything, but I actually prefer their work to that of the Washington Square News (and NYU Local will link to anything worthwhile that WSN comes up with anyway). Never was this divide in quality more visible than with the recent TBNYU! protests in Kimmel. NYU Local drew huge numbers of readers to …

Wanna go see a $2 movie? You’re probably thinking of poorly recorded bootleg DVDs or perhaps a small neighborhood theater that shows only one old movie at a time. But, I’m talking about recently films that have just stopped playing in theaters—movies that are box office successes and have great reviews. I’m talking about NYU’s Program Board which is a “student-run organization dedicated to providing affordable, worthwhile entertainment and coordinating special events for the entire NYU community.” One of the great things that NYU Program Board …

I have recently been pondering the source of self confidence in the people around me. About a week ago, I was having day and I kept thinking, why me? I was disappointed in myself for making a few grammatical errors in a paper I had just turned in. I was also embarrassed. How could I have made such small mistakes? How come I didn’t notice the grammatical errors before? I criminalized myself for not achieved perfect success. I remember feeling dissatisfied with myself at …

U-Hall Contests »

We had 74 entries in the U-Hall Oscarfest Prediction Contest.
Three entries had nine correct answers, including Best Picture.
Two of these three had are tied for first, with identical ballots, erring only on Best Foreign Language Film. Each of them will receive a $100 gift card.
The third place ballot missed Danny Boyle as Best Director but was one of only two ballots to pick Departures (from Japan) as the Best Foreign Language film. So we’re upgrading this third-place prize from $25 to $50 in recognition of that feat!
Here are the winners:
FIRST …

About last night…
*One Thing I Love: “Take Back NYU!’s” Idea*

So as you all probably know, a group of students known as “Take Back NYU!,” barricaded themselves into the Kimmel Dining Hall a couple nights ago. (Side note: F. Scott Fitzgerald said that using exclamation points is like laughing at your own jokes. I find that oddly accurate in this case). Their initial reasoning seemed to be a protest of NYU’s lack of transparency with regards to the budget and endowment (specifically while in the context of the current economic crisis …
