Hall Council

*** Hall Council Election Packets are now available at the Resource Center! ***

If you are a UHall resident interested in developing your leadership skills WHILE spending a substantial budget, then HALL COUNCIL IS FOR YOU! The UHall Council is a great way to get involved in the hall: you will get to work on fun and exciting programs, advocate for residential issues, help upgrade our building facilities, all while enjoying free food at our meetings!

Some Basic Position Information

Floor Representatives: The backbone of the UHall Council, each floor will select a representative to the council to participate in General Assembly meetings and to vote on proposals for funding or support. These positions are decided on the floor, generally during your first floor meeting, or via your RA.

Committee Chairs: This year, UHall Council will have several committee chair positions open for election. As of now, these include Programming, Community Service, Public Relations, Advocacy/Sustainability/Facilities, Recognition, and First Year (FYRE).

President: The President of the UHall Council leads hall council meetings, organizes Executive Board meetings, meets with the hall council Advisor and IRHC Buddy, communicates with other residence hall councils, and represents UHall on the Inter-Residence Hall Council (IRHC).

Vice President: The Vice-President works closely with the President, other executive board members, Advisor, and IRHC Buddy, and is responsible for overseeing hall council committees/subgroups.

Treasurer: The treasurer oversees the council budget, distributes money, balances accounts, and keeps track of financial records.

Secretary: The secretary takes notes at meetings, disseminates information to all hall council members, and keeps track of meeting attendance.

IRHC Representative: The IRHC Represenatative joins the President in attending all IRHC General Assembly meetings, serving as our second vote at the IRHC.

Accomplishments:

The UHall Council has had a number of great programs over the years, including all of the Welcome Week Programs you may have attended this week! From movie nights to Broadway shows to international food nights, UHall Council spends its money providing quality events to keep you busy and exploring all that NYU and NYC have to offer. Additionally, the UHall Council is a supporter of Relay for Life, and does a number of fundraising events throughout the year in support of this great charity.

UHall Council also works to maintain our awesome DVD Library, adding titles and making sure your favorite films and TV Shows are readily accessible. And, if you need a place to watch them, Hall Council also purchased a new 40″ Samsung LCD TV for the C-Lounge, which will be installed in the next few weeks. Finally, our board game and video game library are also funded by Hall Council.

As you can see, Hall Council does a great deal for the community here at UHall, and we want you to take it to the next step!
